Induction kits

I’m interested in this thread as I’d like to add an induction kit to mine

Out of interest I have had a bit of a look around on the Japan auction sites and have found a Satisfaction intake in really good condition with quite nice bright carbon and really good chrome, again nice and bright with no cracks.

It is for a Fuga PY50 which shares the same engine as the E51 although it is a bit more powerful.

Whilst not quite plug and play from the looks of it would only need minor mods ( most likely cutting down the alloy pipework as looks like it might be a bit too long in its present state to fit in the Elgrands engine bay and also the maf sensor looks like it might be too far down the pipework

Would maybe need adding in some silicone tubing so that the maf sensor could be fitted closer to the throttle body.

It does have a welded in maf and PCV take off which with it being the same engine as the Elgrand should possibly be able to be reused or if not should be able to use your existing.

The PCV looks to be in pretty much the right place for the E51

It also has 2 Satisfaction silicone tubes, 1 at the throttle body end and I have just checked and the PY50 has the same 70mm throttle body as the E51 so this could be reused

There is also one at the filter end and this also could be reused

Like I say not quit plug and play but a pretty straightforward mod and fit all the same.

It is currently £78.

So.... has anyone fitted any other brands I wonder?

Thanks

My induction kit, took a punt on it on the auctions in Japan as it was a good price knowing it was going to need a bit of modifying and not quite sure whether I could make it work and although it was advertised as being for a E51 it was clearly not

It is a Power Chamber Zero1000 who are the same company who also make the Satisfaction.

A bit the same as the Satisfaction intake that I have posted above but even more so as in it's original state it was miles too long and also had a curve in the pipework that was never going to fit in the Elgrand engine bay and even worse this was in the wrong direction.

Cut down and the curved pipework cut out and replaced with 45 degree alloy pipe with a new alloy maf flange fitted and a Samco hose with a PCV take off built in to the throttle body and the cone filter replaced with a HKS style 200mm mushroom filter which gets a bit more air in but also reduced the length of it by just enough to so that it fitted in the Elgrands engine bay.

All the alloy pipework and silicone hose is wrapped in gold heat resistant tape and hoses held in place with some quite nice T bolt clamps all of which I got from Aliexspress for not to much money.

Will be building a custom alloy air box around the filter with 2 80mm cold air feeds in from the front bumper at some stage

Tight but just about fits and more by luck than judgement the mushroom filter is pretty much in just the right place to get maximum air into it when the cold air feeds and air box is fitted.

Sounds pretty good now with Elementian's 18 inch silencer that I have had fitted for quite a few years now and I have found after playing around with it a bit that if I set my throttle controller to S5 it gives a good balance between a nice deep growl at idle with a pretty instantaneous gulping sound when the accelerator is pressed and sounds quite aggressive at higher revs.

Hoping that when I fit the cold air feeds and air box and the plenum spacer that I have bought this will improve the sound a bit more.

Most likely not that much faster if at all but definitely feels a bit more responsive and more fun to drive although this could possibly be down to the Impul ECU that I fitted at the same time rather than the induction kit.

This is it now fitted in my engine bay.

How it started out when I bought it from Japan before the curve was cut out and replaced with the 45 degree alloy pipework and the cone filter replaced with the mushroom filter.

You can gauge how long it was from the tape in the picture.
